About QR Monkey
QR Monkey was launched as a means to express the evolving opportunities of the mobile web, without overlooking the value of communication in our physical world where a click to anywhere, anytime, will become the norm.
Smart phones and the freedom of mobility are not likely to isolate us from the physical world as others may imply. Although a recent scan of the queue for Avatar may be in conflict with this notion, as upstream and downstream phones were in play and conversation limited to, “How much longer do we need to wait?” However, Facebook and Twitter are the obvious contrarians to the opinions that we are becoming more isolated. Mobile applications like Foursquare, My Town, Gowalla and others create a reassuring mind map of the location of family and friends. Mobile e-commerce applications are just now enabling P2P transactions among friends and merchants. All of these and many more are in fact socially engaging in both the physical and digital worlds. And if I must switch to my black hat of a marketer, these also create an almost devious opportunity for location-based, behavioral-based, highly personalized targeting of prospective customers. Boo. Hiss.
About the Author, David Rogers
As the principle of an ad agency, and never shy of early adoption of the unknown, I chose Macintosh in the Spring of 1984. (If only the rest of the world had done the same!) In 1995 I wired our offices and staff for website development – with little knowledge of the technology, yet a clear understanding that the Web was to be a customer dialog and relationship opportunity. In recent times my interest re-focused to marketing’s shift to social technologies. Today, and with a collection of eclectic marketing and technology experience, I have created
QR Monkey as a first step to inform and assist clients of the opportunities where the physical world of marketing seamlessly connects to the digital delivery of highly personalized mobile experiences. More background can be found here: ![]()
