NYC Launches World Park QR Board Game to Celebrate Arbor Day

World Park is a mobile interactive experience that raises awareness and engagement within NYC parks. Using QR codes and clues park visitors unlock Central Park’s famous walks, stories, movies, archeology and history through this one-of-a-kind event for Arbor Day. See the YouTube videos below.

At the recent Google Developer Day 2009 in PRAGUE, you could see one of the first successful QR code games. Google partnered with a local developer to launch a "collect codes" for points and a chance to win an Android phone.

Oakley recently launched a national mobile campaign with four23 to promote its winter 09 apparel line up. QR codes were hidden within 'digital snowstorm' displays in store at Oakley's flagship O Store outlets.

Agency Magma launched a mobile &out of home campaign in key markets (NYC,SF, LA) for the movie District 9 using QR Codes. This quickly extended the movie's storyline into the real world.

The World Park Project is an awareness and fundraising campaign to rebuild New York's Central Park. Donations were enabled via barcodes throughout the city. Note: Great campaign creative, poor mobile execution and user experience.

As part of Audi's centenary celebrations, a staff from its Japanese subsidiary, each with a placard, produced a QR code of 159 sq m. This is likely the largest code created to date indoors. Great video.

Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas is using QR Codes on advertising posters in its current marketing campaign. The QR Code resolves to a website and user agent detection directs mobile devices to a video on YouTube for mobile.

Used at the UK Museums on the Web conference, QR codes were included on all attendee name badges. While the codes provided attendees a number of options, the most used was the convenient sharing of vCard contact information.

Featured in the Ampontan, Japan Fisheries Association and the Fishing Boat and System Engineering Association are enabling customers to get the fish story firsthand. The code resolves to a website where the species and cooking possibilities are presented.

In addition to print, QR can exist online and within virtual worlds where a user can transit from the desktop to a mobile device. Here the avatar connects other Second Life citizens to his blog with a QR code.

Launched recently in Europe, a Nike campaign delivered a powerful combination of premium, geo-tagged content, the latest iPhone technologies, and social media integration—updated in real-time by real people. QR drops the user into News, Products, and video related to the campaign.

Recently featured in “Wired”, GMC Granite concept’s new website will use QR codes. GM hopes it will revolutionize the way they advertise automobiles. Smartphones make up an estimated 40 percent of cellphone sales to those under 40. GM says QR codes are key for attracting these buyers.
